Havana Soul Meets Phuket Luxury: A Narrative Celebration at COMO Point Yamu | Beverly and Wei
Beverly and Wei had one of the first weddings at COMO Point Yamu, and it’s easily become one of my favourite spots in Phuket. The design by Paola Navone is bold – all bright blues and whites – which makes for a unique backdrop that’s a departure from the typical Thai resort aesthetic. As a COMO Point Yamu Phuket wedding photographer, this was my happy place.
A Latin Vibe in Phuket The theme was “Old Havana,” and it was a blast to document. Seeing a crowd dressed in fedoras and linen ready to mambo in the middle of Thailand was a refreshing change of pace. From a photojournalism perspective, it was a goldmine. There was a specific energy to the day—less about stiff formality and more about the rhythm of the party.
Working with the Light The architecture at Point Yamu is stunning, but it can be tricky. It’s full of sharp lines and deep shadows. I spent the day chasing the way the light hit those minimalist spaces, trying to frame Beverly and Wei in a way that felt natural but still respected the grand scale of the venue.
The Moments What stayed with me from this one weren’t just the big views, but the small, unscripted bits:
The contrast of the Latin styling against the sharp, modern lines of the resort.
The transition from the bright, airy ceremony to the moody, high-energy dance floor.
Capturing the genuine, “off-guard” moments when the guests finally let loose.
If you’re looking for a COMO Point Yamu Phuket wedding photographer who cares more about the story and the light than just posing people against a sunset, this gallery is a good look at how I work.
