Shangri-La Boracay wedding | Victoria and Devin
Boracay is the jewel of the Philippines. With blinding chalk-white beaches and clear turquoise waters, it’s routinely voted one of the very best islands in the world. Unfortunately, it has also been poorly-maintained and the island has deteriorated under mass tourism. So the government closed the island completely for 6 months last year to try to tidy things up.

By the time Victoria and Devin had their Shangri-La Boracay wedding, the island had only been open again for a few weeks. The sands were still white, the waters still a brilliantly clear aqua-marine. But only time will tell if management of the island moving forward will keep it pristine.
A Shangri-La Boracay wedding in the rain
With looming rainclouds threatening Victoria and Devin’s wedding ceremony, they sped things up to avoid everyone getting wet, resulting in the shortest ceremony I’ve ever photographed – under 4 minutes! However it also resulted in more time for an epic dance party in the Shangri-La ballroom!
Boracay’s back in business, and aims to be one of the premier locations for destination weddings in Southeast Asia. Looking forward to shooting more weddings here this year.
