Angkor wat wedding in Cambodia | Kali and Pete
There’s something incredibly romantic about an Angkor wat wedding – temples lost in a beautiful jungle, vines and tree roots crawling over stone slabs built almost a thousand years ago. Despite the busloads of tourists – and there are a lot – its a place you can still get away from everyone and feel transported back in time. Because they are both Australian-Khmer, it made sense for Kali and Pete to have a destination wedding in Cambodia. It certainly didn’t hurt that they could also have their Siem Reap wedding under the shadow of these mystical temples.
Friends from all over the world joined them for a few days of fun amid the ruins, and a beautiful ceremony at Belmond La Residence D’Angkor in Siem Reap. The a few hours on the road south, to Phnom Penh for a traditional Khmer wedding ceremony in the capital. The Khmer wedding traditions, from a symbolic hair-cut to the family blessings, are beautiful to watch, and I consider it such a privilege that I get to witness ceremonies like these.
